Message by EDO – Liver Foundation

I am honoured to write these lines on behalf of Liver Foundation Trust for Liver Centre. Liver Centre is a prestigious unit of liver diseases & first of its kind in Pakistan for prevention, treatment & research of the liver disease. Hepatitis is almost an epidemic in Faisalabad and its adjoining areas.

Outgoing nation figures approximately 12% of Pakistani population is suffering from either Hepatitis B or C. Local figures suggest an even higher magnitude of this life-threatening disorder. No trained, well equipped and dedicated diagnostic/treatment facility for liver-related disorder existed in Punjab, particularly in Faisalabad. Local philanthropists in association with Prof.Dr.Zahid Yasin Hashmi, Chairman Liver Foundation Trust (Ex-Principal Punjab Medical College) came up with the idea of developing a Liver Foundation Trust in order to provide a centre of excellence or diagnosis, research and treatment of liver-related disorders.

A dream came true on 6th January 2005, when Liver Centre was officially inaugurated by Ex-Governor of Punjab Lt.Gen® Khalid Maqbool, Liver centre’s targets are not only to provide treatment & services to the patients suffering from Liver related disorders but also to reduce the prevalence of liver disease through the prime of prevention.
