Mobile Health Care Unit for liver diseases is a unique model of health care services delivery conceptualized to enhance the coverage of primary health care in rural communities and flung areas of Punjab. MHCU act as a functioning system of health market innovation which is the pro-poor, accessible and cost-effective vehicle. The liver centre has 2 such states of the art vehicles.
The focal point of the model is the mobile health lab and clinic with diagnostic treatment and referral facilities, as well as trained doctors and support staff.
MHCU is providing not only screening and vaccination facilities to patients in the rural area but also a wide range of services including the provision of cost-free health services, health education and gender mainstreaming.
This program is being run entirely on a charitable basis and is currently funded by Liver Foundation Trust. In order to track program results, a comprehensive monitoring and evaluation plan has been developed and implemented to ensure the provision of quality health services with maximum oversight of the program.
